Port Blair, Mar. 3: The Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B. S. Jaglan, IAS completed his four days tour to Nicobar Group of Islands from 27.02.2024 to 01.03.2024 to review the election preparedness in view of upcoming General Elections to Lok Sabha – 2024.
On the first day, he reached Campbell Bay, the southernmost tehsil of A&N Islands and convened a meeting with Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay, Shri Abhishekh Gulia, AERO, Shri P K Singh and all Sector Officers of Great Nicobar Island at APWD Guest House and also visited two Polling Stations to ensure the Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF).
On second & third day, he visited Nancowry group of Islands and convened a meeting on 28.02.2024 with AERO, Shri Anuj Kumar Barti along with Sector Officers at the Office of the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, Nancowry. Later, CEO visited the Polling Station GMS Kamorta and GPS Munak, a tribal village to reaffirm the readiness of Polling Station.
On 29.02.2024, he visited Chowra Island and interacted with the Polling Officials to review the election activities and also visited Polling Stations to ensure the Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) as per ECI instructions.
On last day of the tour, CEO reached Car Nicobar and convened a meeting with District Election Officer, Nicobar, Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Superintendent of Police, Nodal Officers and Sector Officers engaged for the election purpose in the Conference Hall of the District Office, Car Nicobar to review the election preparedness. CEO also visited the critical Polling Stations in Nicobar and took stock of readiness of the Polling Stations and directed various teams and officials to comply with the ECI instructions to ensure free and fair elections.
