Port Blair, Mar 03: Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration laid the foundation stone for Construction of Multipurpose/Assembly hall at Vivekananda Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya, Port Mout on 01.03.2024 by unveiling the plaque as Chief Guest. The function was presided over by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad. Other dignitaries present as special guests were Mrs. Smitha R, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, ZPSA, Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Secretary (RD). A & N Administration, Mr.Boominathan, Up-Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Zilla Parishad Members, members of PRIs and principal and staff of the School. Gracing the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the Zilla Parishadin managing one of the premier Schools of South Andaman providing it with all basic facilities. He further stated that the instant hall would add to the already existing facilities enabling the school in organizing assembly and other cultural programmes in a convenient manner and urged the PRIs to continue to work for the socio-economic development of the rural areas.
The Adhyaksh, ZPSA in his address on the occasion stated that the Assembly hall is being built with a three storied foundation to facilitate construction of additional Classrooms in the first and second floor due to constraint of land as there has been constant demand from the villagers of Ferrargunj Tehsil for admission of their ward in the VKZPV, Port Mout as the school has earned a reputation of being an institution imparting quality education.
The Secretary (RD) in his address appreciated the academic records of hundred percent result maintained by the school in Board Examinations and urged the School Authorities to continue the tempo of hard work. He also stated that the Administration would render all helps necessary in execution of the work.
The Assembly hall would be built at a cost of about Rs. 1.45 Crore in the ground floor of the proposed three storied structure with a capacity to accommodate about 800 students and will be completed in 12 months of award of work. The Up-Adhyaksh, ZPSA in his concluding address expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present for the foundation stone laying ceremony.
Subsequently the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Secretary (RD) & Chief Engineer, APWD visited the site for construction of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at Port Mout, tender for which was already floated but there has been some delay in finalization of the same. The Chief Secretary instructed the CE, APWD to expedite the work clearing all bottlenecks immediately.
