Port Blair, Feb 11: A delegation of the Govt. Motor Transport Drivers’ Union (CITU) led by its President B. Chandrachoodan met the Secretary-cum-Director of Transport today (07.02.2013) at Port Blair and discussed with him various issues relating to the employees in general and Drivers in particular, working under the Transport Department. The delegation of the Union demanded (1) regularization of DRM/ Contract employees working in the Transport Department (2) filling up of vacant posts (3) immediate grant of financial upgradation under MACP, etc. Various demands/ issues of the employees posted in outstations were also brought to the notice of the Secretary-cum-Director of Transport. The Secretary-cum-Director of Transport was very sympathetic to the demands raised by the Union and assured that the demands will be examined and appropriate action taken to resolve it early.
The other members of delegation of the Union were (1) Mr. PK Khalid, General Secretary, (2) Mr. Satyanarayana, Vice President, (3) Mr. Ammu, Organising Secretary, (4) Mr. Shesha Rao, etc.
