Port Blair, Oct 25: Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) in collaboration with Ambitious Badminton Club Dairy Farm (ABCD), Andaman Helping Hands (AHHANI) and PBMC organised a Swachhata Campaign today at Marina Park surrounding area to create awareness among communities towards sanitation and cleanliness.
Miss Kashthuri Bhai, ace Chess player and Swachhata Ambassador for Port Blair city graced the occasion as the chief guest and initiated the Swachhata Campaign in presence of Dr. Muruganandam, Scientist, RMRCPB, ICMR, Port Blair & Mr. Aviral Saxena, GIZ who also participated in the cleanliness drive actively.
Around 70 enthusiasts from Chess & Badminton community as well as from Andaman Helping Hands participated in the cleanliness drive in six different teams with great energy, especially young chess players who put up great show and went on to collect around 19 bags of garbage consisted all type of mixed garbage like plastic materials, liquor bottles, Tetra packs, Water bottles, wastage shoes, sandals, plastic bags followed by waste ropes and Fish/Vegetables baskets etc. In the end of the Cleanliness drive, the best performing teams were awarded with new chess sets as a token of appreciation for their commendable effort.
The event was well co-ordinated by Mr. Sambhu Murthy, a representative of Andaman Helping Hands (AHHANI)
