
Port Blair, Oct 20: A & N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) organized a 04 days Orientation workshop cum training on Targeted Intervention (TI) under National AIDS Control Program (NACP) and its reporting on SOCH portal for the Officials and Staff of NGO, Jan Lok Kalyan Parishad from 16th to 19th October, 2023.
An NGO from Jharkhand, Jan Lok Kalyan Parishad was on-boarded for implementing TI program under NACP in the South Andaman District of A & N Islands on 8th September 2023.
The training was conducted under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS.
The National AIDS and STD Control Programme (NACP) is being implemented in India under the aegis of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) since 1992 to combat and control the HIV/AIDS in the country. The Targeted Intervention program is the flagship prevention program of the NACO for High Risk Group (HRGs), which includes Female Sex Workers (FSW), Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) & Transgenders/ Hijra (TG/H) and the Bridge Population which includes the Truckers and Migrant population.
The objective of the training was to make the new employees understand the objective of NACP, relevant policies & procedures and how TI can contribute in achieving the objective of NACP. The training was also to built confidence and help them adapt faster to the new and sensitive area of work. Hand-on training was also given on Strengthening Overall Care for HIV beneficiaries (SOCH), an Integrated Information Management System to record and track services and related inventories, transactions for improving the health outcome of beneficiaries under NACP.
