Port Blair, Oct 17: Today, at 10:55 AM, the Fire Control Room Headquarters received an urgent call about a fire incident at Lillypur Haddo. Responding immediately, A team of Andaman and Nicobar Fire Services along with Water Tenders and the staff from Fire Station Chatham rushed to the location. Upon arrival, they observed flames emanating from the rear side of a locked wooden house.
With the help of SHO PS Chatham, police staff, and members of the public, the fire fighters broke open the door. Inside, they found the sidewall of the house, wooden furniture, and a portion of the roof ablaze. Working together, the combined efforts of Fire Station Chatham, Haddo, and Fire Station Headquarters efficiently controlled the fire, preventing further damage or casualties.
After an inspection, it was determined that a short circuit was the cause of the fire. The total value of the affected property was estimated to be 1 lakh, with damages amounting to 40,000 and saved property worth 60,000. The owner of the house is currently in the mainland for medical treatment, sources said.
