Port Blair, Oct 03: As part of Swachhata Pakhwada – Swachhata Hi Seva, A Cleanliness Drive was conducted on 1st October 2023 at New Wandoor Beach on the eve of the Gandhi Jayanti. Signifying the National Event, District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman under District Administration participated in the Cleanliness Drive in Collaboration with the Gram Panchayat Wandoor with prodigious enthusiasm. Along with the Frontline Workers, Villagers of the community, Children from Love Children Home, a Child Care Institution also actively participated in the Drive. The participants of the Drive collected the thrown waste and Trash from the beach such as plastic bags, cool drink cans, wrappers etc. and handed them over to the waste Disposal Team of Gram Panchayat Wandoor for its safe disposal. Swachhata Pledge was taken by the participants. The children were encouraged to take responsibility for keeping the surrounding clean by protecting Mother Nature and pristine Island. Sand also encourages others to do so.
