Port Blair, Oct 03: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Port Blair, marked its commitment to the ‘Swachchha Hi Seva’ mission by organizing a one-hour cleanliness program at its office premises on October 1st, 2023. Engaging enthusiastic youth volunteers, the event witnessed the removal of weeds from the premises and the successful elimination of approximately 500 kg of scraps.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, celebrated on October 2nd, 2023, in collaboration with Sky Youth Club, Prem Nagar, the youth paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, commemorating his ideals of truth and non-violence. The event also featured a ‘Shramdan’ under the Swachhata Hi Seva Mission, further emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and sustainable development. The program was led by Mr. Yogendar Rao of Sky youth club.
To extend their efforts beyond office premises, a beach cleaning and residential areas cleaning program was organized on October 1st and 2nd 2023, at Junglighat Sea Beach and Prem Nagar Villege. The event witnessed the active participation of the president, secretary, treasurer, other youths and senior citizens.
During these events, Mr. Gopal Ch Biswas of NYK Port Blair addressed the youth, emphasizing the significance of cleanliness programs in enhancing the value of our land and fostering sustainable and eco-friendly tourism.
The Sky Youth Club showcased its unwavering commitment to societal development by organizing a rally carrying the national flag through Prem Nagar and collecting soil/rice from each household as part of the ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ initiative.
