Port Blair, Aug 20: As part of the “Meri Mati Mera Desh Abhiyan,” the Amrit Kalash Yatra was conducted by Shivapuram Panchayat on August 19, 2023, starting at 9 am from the Panchayat Bhavan. Soil from Shivapuram Panchayat was carried to the block level.
Initiated by GSS Shivapuram School and GMS Padmanabapuram School students and teachers, the yatra showcased a 75-feet tricolor. In the final campaign of the 75th Independence and “Meri Mati Meri Desh,” a 75-feet tricolor was paraded from Yatra Panchayat Bhavan to Padmanabapuram School. Shivapuram Panchayat Pradhan Mr. Venkateswar Rao and Panchayat Secretary Mr. Mohammad Hanif led the procession, joined by numerous children, teachers, and public representatives of Panchayat Raj institutions.
The symbolic Amrit Kalash was then transported to Rangat block, accompanied by representatives from Shivapuram Panchayat. The event included an oath-taking ceremony led by the Pramukh of Rangat Panchayat Samiti, emphasizing the sentiment of “Meri Mati Meri Desh.”
