Port Blair, July 29: In continuation of strict action against illegal activities, on 24/07/2023, Police Station Humfrygunj team received credible information regarding transportation of venison meat in an auto rickshaw in the Wandoor area. Immediately, a team was formed under the supervision of SDPO Bambooflat Mr. Arshdeep Singh Panwar (DANIPS) and it was led by SI Gaurav Banerjee, SHO PS Humfrygunj. The team included ASI RC Singh, PC/1534 M. Sudarsana Rao, PC/1424 Sanjib Shil, PC/1102 Sankar S Aind, PC/2647 Aurangzeb Ahmed, PC/2915 Sabraj Mohd., PC/2698 Nitesh Baidya, PC/430 Mani Kandan, and PC/2873 Reba Mazumder.
The team immediately layed a trap and spotted an auto rickshaw with registration number AN01 G 5918 near Govt. Middle School Wandoor. Upon checking, they found four individuals in possession of suspicious venison meat, totaling approximately 112.34 kgs. The four individuals were apprehended, and upon questioning, they disclosed their names as follows:
1) Dipankar Sarkar, son of Mr. Grindra Sarkar, aged 35 years, an auto driver residing in Shadipur.
2) Dinesh Kumar, son of Late Ram Charan Lall, aged 36 years, a private worker residing in New Pahargoan.
3) Sanjit Mondal, son of Mr. Susanto Kumar Mondal, aged 34 years, residing in Dollygunj.
4) Madhabi Mondal, wife of Late Madhu Mondal, aged 43 years, residing in Dollugunj, Near Shiv Mandir.
Furthermore, the seized venison weighing approximately 112.34 kgs was seized and the persons were detained and handed over to Forest Department for further necessary legal action.
