Port Blair, Jan 09: A meeting of the District Planning Committee, South Andaman District was convened under the Chairmanship of Smti Abala Samaddar, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman on 9th January, 2013 at 9.30 am in the Conference Hall of Zilla Parishad South Andaman to discuss and deliberate the draft District Plan proposals under Annual Plan (2013-14) of all departments of A & N Administration.
The meeting was attended by the DPC Members, officers i.e Mr. B.L Sharma, Secretary (Fin./Plg.) Mr. D.N. Singh, Secretary (Panchayat), Mr. Rupesh Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr. K. K Jindal, Chief Executive Officer (Ex-Officio Secretary(DPC), Smti Balbir Kaur, Up-Adhyaksha, Special Invitees viz., Mr. Mohammed Safique, Smti Bhanumati, Smti Namitha Mistry, and Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Pramukhs, Panchayat Samities, Municipal Councilors of PBMC viz., Mr. K. Ganeshan, Mr. J. Rajendran, Mr. S. Muthuraman, Zilla Parishad Members viz., Mr. S.S Balakrishnan Nair, Mr. Sukumar Das, Mr. Anand Amrit Raj, Mr. Jaydeep Kumar Dey, Mr. Deva Kumar, Mr. Nependra Nath Nag, Mr. Gopal Das, Smti Y. Gandhi, Miss V.K. Mariyam Bibi and officers/officials of Zilla Parishad and Administration.
During the meeting, the sectoral plan proposals/schemes and other developmental infrastructure proposed by PRI of various departments i.e. Agriculture, AH&VS, Fisheries, Police and District Jail, Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare and Industries were discussed.
During the discussion, the Heads/Officer In-Charge of the above Departments briefed about their Fund Projection, Plan Schemes and physical targets for Annual Plan (2013-14). They informed that maximum proposals submitted by The PRIs will be examined and incorporated in their Sectoral Plan Programme of Annual Plan.
The Committee suggested and recommended on various issues viz., Re-claiming of submerged land. C/o more sluice gates wherever necessary, promotion of organic manure and bio pesticides in the Agriculture sector, supply of hybrid cattle and malabari goats, timely distribution of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, enhancement in widow, old age pensions, financial assistance to destitute women, construction of more Anganwadi buildings, construction of sub fire station at Ograbraj, establishment of marine police force at Dundas Point, shifting of existing Jarawa ward from PHC Tushnabad to Tirur, construction of speed breakers on ATR specially Ferrargunj and Bathubasti, providing of compensation for affected families due to Jarawa attacks etc.
The first day of the meeting ended with vote of thanks to the chair.
