Port Blair, 27 June: The long-standing demand of the people of Bimblitan for improved network connectivity is finally seeing progress as the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has initiated the installation and construction of new towers in the area. These new towers aim to enhance connectivity not only in Bimblitan but also in surrounding villages that have been plagued by poor network connection and lack of connectivity for the past three years.
The previous BSNL tower in the Bimblitan area was completely damaged several years ago, leading to severe network issues and blackouts in certain areas. While some parts of the villages have managed to access the Airtel network, those who cannot afford two SIM cards have been eagerly awaiting the restoration of BSNL network services. Andaman Sheekha Daily had earlier covered the news in detail.
Mr. Raja Ram Mohan, the Chief General Manager of BSNL in Andaman and Nicobar Telecom Circle explained that the delay in installing a new tower was due to the unavailability of suitable land and equipment. However, a few months ago, they secured the required land and commenced earthwork. They expect the necessary equipment to arrive within a few months, and the installation work is targeted to be completed within three months. This will cover a three-kilometer radius around Bimblitan, greatly enhancing internet and connectivity services in the adjoining areas.
Mr. Raj Govind, a Zilla Parishad member of the region, expressed his sincere gratitude to the BSNL Chief General Manager of Andaman and Nicobar Region and the BSNL officers for initiating the construction and installation work of the new tower. He also requested that the work be expedited for early completion, further emphasizing the importance of improved network connectivity for the residents.
