Port Blair, June 22: The Minister of State in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan chaired an interactive session with the print and electronic media, in presence of Mr. Y. Satya Kumar, National Secretary, BJP. Mr. Ajoy Bairagi (State President BJP), Bishnu Pada Roy (Ex. MP), Mr. Vishal Jolly (National Executive Member, BJP), Mr. M. Vinod (State Vice President & Media), and other senior leaders were also present on the occasion. The Media interaction showcased the significant achievements of the BJP-led Central Government over the past nine years.
During the press conference, Minister Dr. L. Murugan emphasized the accomplishments of the Narendra Modi government as it celebrated its ninth year in power. The leaders praised Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s leadership and recognized him as the “most popular international leader.” The BJP government’s welfare schemes were commended for empowering every Indian, with notable emphasis on the successful implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).
He said that under Prime Minister Mr. Modi’s guidance, several transformative initiatives were launched, including the Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and Direct Benefit Transfer scheme. These schemes brought about significant changes in the lives of the people, fostering financial inclusion, cleanliness, affordable housing, and transparent transactions. The leaders highlighted the nation’s progress in digital transactions, surpassing countries like China, America, Brazil, and Europe.
The BJP leaders also discussed major achievements related to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. They mentioned the launch of the Chennai-Andaman Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) project, a significant investment of INR 1,232 crores. Other projects highlighted included two 500-passenger cum cargo ships, the MV Shindu and MV Nalanda, a 20 MW solar power plant, rooftop solar installations, energy management centers, smart metering, road and bridge construction, double lane of the Andaman Trunk Road, and the development of civil aviation infrastructure.
The leaders further lauded the successful implementation of flagship schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Swamitva Yojana, Har Ghar Nal Se Jal, and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. They emphasized the widespread distribution of Ayushman Bharat cards, free gas connections, and loans for street vendors without any collateral. The focus on water supply, sanitation, agriculture, and ration distribution was also acknowledged.
The BJP leaders highlighted the increase in the number of airports, railways, expressways, and highways, which have improved transportation infrastructure and supported economic growth.
The leaders expressed pride in India’s global standing, with significant contributions in addressing international crises, such as the evacuation of medical students during the Russia-Ukraine war. They highlighted India’s participation in events like the historic Yoga at the United Nations, which set a new Guinness World Record and showcased India’s growth and global influence.
The BJP leaders expressed their satisfaction with the recent appointment of a new PIB officer in Andaman and appreciated the filling of the vacant post after several years. They further emphasized the commitment of the Narendra Modi government to the welfare of the poor and the inclusive development of the nation.
Mr. Y. Satya Kumar, National Secretary, BJP highlighted that the nine years of Prime Minister Modi’s governance, characterized as “Seva Governance,” have been dedicated to the progressive and sustainable welfare of the poor. The government’s focus on policy formulation, actions, and investments in infrastructure has generated employment opportunities for youth and empowered marginalized sections of society, including farmers, women, and the underprivileged. The successful implementation of various schemes has been a testament to the government’s commitment to uplifting the nation.
