Port Blair, June 20: The Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, GoI, Dr. L Murugan arrived here today on a three days visit to A&N Islands. On arrival at VSI Airport, the Minister was received by senior officers of A&N Administration.
Soon after arrival, Hon’ble Minister visited the upcoming District Hospital infrastructure at Garacharma during which, he inspected the developmental works of the project viz. upgradation of Garacharma PHC to District Hospital and the facilities to be made available in the upcoming District Hospital. He was also briefed about the progress of the project.
Later, the Hon’ble Minister visited the newly constructed bridge at Sippighat in NH-4, South Andaman and interacted with the PRIs and general public. Thereafter, Hon’ble Minister visited the Organic Horticulture Farm of Agriculture Department at Sippighat. During the visit, the Director, Agriculture, A&N Administration, Shri Vikram Singh briefed the Minister about the varieties of Horticulture and plantation crops available in the farm. The Minister also visited the SHG Unit selling farm compost and organic manure besides the traditional medicinal plant nursery and spice garden set up in the farm.
Later on the way, Hon’ble Minister also visited local shops at Garacharma and interacted with the shopkeepers and general public. Later in the evening, the Minister attended local programmes.
