Port Blair, June 20: In an impressive feat, the Wildlife Division of the Forest Department successfully captured a 2-meter long crocodile from the Sippighat water sport area yesterday morning. The crocodile had been causing concern among locals after being sighted by students and workers from the Sports Authority of India. To address the situation, the Wildlife Division took prompt action by placing a cage in the nallah (water channel).
On Monday morning, the Wildlife Division staff discovered that a crocodile had been trapped in the cage. They immediately reported the development to the Wildlife Division, and under the guidance of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of South Andaman, the crocodile was safely transferred to the Biological Park in Chidiyatapu.
Notably, another crocodile has also been sighted in the area by the public. As a precautionary measure, additional cages have been installed to capture the crocodile and relocate it to a safer location away from populated areas. The Wildlife Division has deployed staff members to closely monitor the movements of the crocodiles and ensure the safety of the local community.
