Port Blair, June 15: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder has demanded the Administration for urgent repairs of the STS Bus unit operating in the Mayabunder and Rangat regions.
In a letter addressed to the Directorate of Transport, A & N Administration, Mr. Halder has highlighted the condition of the STS Buses in the aforementioned areas which are deteriorating significantly with mechanical problems, such as faulty engines, malfunctioning brakes, and suspension issues, further indicates over disruptions in the transportation services.
He has stated towards the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the STS buses which have fallen below acceptable levels as the interior of the buses often remains uncleaned, with broken seats and stained floors requires instant maintenance.
He added that, in the persisting monsoon, many of the passengers experience problems due to water leakage through the holes on the rooftop of the buses or windows which entirely drenches the commuters at an extreme level.
He said that the current situation does not only reflect poorly on the reputation of the STS Bus service but also compromises the comfort and well-being of passengers.
Mr. Halder has suggested for regular maintenance checks and overall system analysis to prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensure passenger safety during the time of travel.
He has further requested the Administration to allocate immediate resources to STS Bus Repair Units for addressing these issues in Mayabunder and Rangat regions.
