Port Blair, Jan 04: More than thousand students from various schools alongwith teachers, general public and police personnel took part in the “Road Safety Walk” organized by Andaman & Nicobar Police today on 04/01/13. It was a part of XXIVth Road Safety Week being observed by Traffic Police to create awareness among public to make the city safer for road users.
The Director General of Police, Mr. S.B.S. Deol, IPS, flagged off the Walk at Netaji Stadium in the presence of Mr. Balaji Srivastava, IPS(IGP), Mr. Satish Golchha, IPS(IGP/L&0), Mr. Sharad Agarwal, IPS(DIGP/HQ), Mr. Mandeep Singh Randhawa, IPS( SP/D/SA) and other officials of Education and Police Department, displaying road safety messages through banners & placards such as “Speed Thrills But Kills”, “Do Not Let Your Children Play On Road, ” Use Low Beam At Night” ” Use Zebra Crossing To Cross The Road” “Don’t Be A Hell Mate, Wear Helmet” etc. the school children marched enthusiastically on the main roads of Port Blair.
On 3rd January 2013, Lectures on Road Safety by Police officers were organized at Tagore Govt. College of Education, Govt. Sr. Sec. School-Haddo (Telugu Medium) and Govt. Sr. Sec. School-Bambooflat.
Apart from Police officers, Dr. J. D. Singh, Principal, Tagore Govt. College of Education, Mr. S.K. Sethi, Principal, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Haddo (Telugu Medium) and Mr. Ved Prakash Mishra, Vice Principal, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Bambooflat also delivered Lectures on Road Safety.
