Port Blair, May 28: On 27/05/2023, a team composed of members from Narcotics Cell, Central Crime Station and Police Station Aberdeen under the supervision of Mr. Vinay Mathur, Dy.SP (Narcotics) conducted a targeted operation aimed at addressing the issue of drug consumption and other illegal activities being reported in public places within city.
Engaging in drug consumption in public areas not only poses risks to the individuals involved but also creates an environment of fear and discomfort for the law-abiding residents and visitors of the city. Recognizing the importance of addressing this issue, A&N Police deployed a specialized team to focus on identifying and apprehending individuals involved in drug-related activities in public spaces.
During the operation, officers actively patrolled areas suspected for drug consumption. During the drive, total 27 persons were verified/checked, as a result, 03 individuals namely Suriya Veer S/o Mr. Rakesh,(25) yrs, Youtuber (Emma Veera), R/o Junglighat, Aashish Satyawadi S/o Mr. Sumit Kumar Satyawadi (28) yrs, Travel Agent, R/o Doctor’s Colony, Nayagaon, and Robin Singh S/o Mr. Harjeet Singh (23)yrs R/o Phoenix Bay, Port Blair were arrested at Carbyn’s cove parking on 26/05/2023 at 2230 hrs for drug consumption offences, with substances such as Ganja and Nitrazepam tablets from their possession. A car and alcohol being consumed by the accused persons were also seized during the drive.
