Port Blair, Apr 21: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) on Thursday evening organized a mass public meeting at Bambooflat Jetty in order to corner the BJP over alleged rising unemployment, rising inflation and corruption.
The Congress workers of Bambooflat geared up a massive show of strength in the public meeting. The meeting was presided over by ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker.
The public meeting was organized under the leadership of Zilla Parishad Member Mrs. V.K Mariyam Bibi, Fishermen Congress Chairman Mr. B. Laxmi Narayan, Zilla Parishad Member Mr. P. Ummer, Zilla Parishad Member Mr. A. Ummer, Pradhan Mrs. Rasheeda Bibi, Samiti Member Mr. Raja and Ex-DCC General Secretary Mr. Abhibhushan Ghosh.
The Congress leaders lashed out at the administration’s alleged failures and non-performance on various fronts such as construction of Bambooflat-Chatham Bridge, providing 100% job reservation for Islanders, Shifting of proposed IOC terminal to an isolated area, shortage of water and electricity and several other local issues.
