Port Blair, Mar 13: The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council Mrs. Kavitha Udhaya Kumar today the 13th March 2023 laid foundation stone for various projects at Ward No.19. At first the Civic Chief laid the foundation stone for the renovation of the Shopping Complex at Bhatu Basthi, opposite the Post Office building in presence of the Ward Councillor, Ward No.19 Mr. V Vetrivelu. The complex will be renovated at an estimated cost of Rs.39,32,981/- lakhs, which will cater the needs of the local populace and will also be a mode of revenue generation for the Council.
The Civic Chief also laid foundation stone for the construction of Pay & Use Toilets at Bhatu Basthi, which will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.14,99,275/- lakhs. The construction of the same was a long pending demand of local populace and the Civic directed to the officials concerned to complete the work within the stipulated time frame. The Chairperson also inaugurated the renovated/altered post office building which will accommodate the Councilor’s office, Ward No.24 and the office of Assistant Engineers (Water Works) Division, PBMC. Officials of the Council were also present during the function.
