Port Blair, Mar 13: The Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Port Blair, ANI organized a one day Seminar on “Contribution of Women Leaders in Modern Indian Society” to mark the occasion of International Women’s day on 11.03.2023, in JNRM College Auditorium. Dr. Poonam Arora, Ex-Chairperson, A & N State Social Welfare Board was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the programme.While addressing the gathering Dr.Poonam Arora highlighted the contribution of women in various spheres which contributes women empowerment and how a woman should fight for her rights. Women either at home or at workplace rendering her services with due care and responsibilities for the betterment of family, community and for the country, she added.
The special Guest Dr.Priyanka Yadav, Assistant Professor (Community medicine), ANIIMS, laid importance on how women nowadays have succeeded in their professional fields by demonstrating various strategies and developing interpersonal skills. She related the practical experiences in the daily life to philosophy which paves way for people to succeed ethically.
The special Guest Ms. Sandhya Kispotta, PST (Education Department), International Sports Person threw light on the welfare of the women community and their success in various roles as a daughter, mother and wife. Furthermore she has added the achievements made by women in the sports field thus bringing laurels to the country. Dr. Santosh Kumar Jha, President, ABVP, ANI welcomed the gathering and spoke on the importance of girls in ABVP activities while Sushri Seema Kumari, Secretary, ABVP, ANI proposed vote of thanks.
Followed by the Inaugural session the technical session was commenced in which Mrs. Aprajita Tripathi, Teacher, Vivekananda Kendra Nagarpalika Vidyalaya, Ranchi Tekri, Port Blair spoke on gender equality for a “sustainable tomorrow”. Stating that laws meant to protect women’s rights should be implemented effectively.
Mrs. Archana Hershey, Karyavahika, Rashtriya Sevika Samiti motivated the students to set for themselves a disciplined routine. She also encouraged the students to voice for discrimination against women and wanted the girls to ensure a crime free society for women. The early stages of a girl’s education provide them an opportunity to explore various avenues, she added. Dr.Santosh Kumar Jha, President ABVP also spoke in the technical session on “Role of Women for Social, Educational and Economical Change”. Dr.Manju Nair, Associate Professor, JNRM spoke on the contribution and achievements of Tribal womenfolk in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mrs. Sampati Xalxo, Senior Teacher, Nirmal School also participated in the seminar.
During the valedictory session Ms. Samita Aacharya, Happiness Coach, Documentary FilmMaker, Budding Entrepreneur was the Chief Guest spoke on the importance of inner happiness to lead a happy and healthy life for which the role of girls / women is very important. Then only the contribution of social responsibilities will be more, she said. Dr. Kandimuthu, Vibhag Pramukh, ABVP while delivering valedictory address spoke on the activities of ABVP for the personality development of both boys and girls, so that they come and take responsibility in social service activities. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Sushri Seema Kumari, Secretary, ABVP, ANI. Altogether 150 girl students, teachers and invited guests from various colleges took part. In this programme a colourful culture programme was presented by the college students Vandana Kumari and team.
