Port Blair, Dec 23: The fourth day of the first ever Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign(PIC) in Little Andaman witnessed a huge crowd since morning. The people from different parts of Little Andaman thronged the pavilions put up by various government departments and organizations to highlight the achievements made under different Central flag ship programmes being implemented in the islands, besides strides of
developments in different fields.
The theme pavilions of APWD, Election and District administration, ICDS, National Rural Health Mission, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated development corporation(ANIIDCO), police, Information,
Publicity and Tourism among others have been widely acclaimed by the visitors.
The Rashtra Ekta Pavilion of Andaman and Nicobar command witnessed a large number of people standing in queue, to have the glimpses of achievements of ANC as the sentinels of the sea and the weaponry display.
Besides, the music concert by the ANC’s Terriers soon after the culmination of cultural programmes at the stage made the audience spell bound. The film show by the Directorate of Information, Publicity and Tourism at the venue went on till mid night. The screening of popular wholesome entertainment film “ 3 Idiots “
attracted a very huge crowd in front of the mega stage at the venue.
The Visitors have been given sim cards free of cost at the BSNL centre at the venue.
For the first time, the media Units of Information and Broadcasting, Doordarshan and Directorate of Field publicity put up their stalls in the mega Bharat Nirman Exhibitiom.
The Doordarshan displayed the DTH antennas in front of its stall and also demonstrated its performance.
The young children and students visiting the Science centre were much thrilled to see through the telescope installed there.
A number of food stalls and handicrafts sales centres have also been set up at the venue by the local people to draw more visitors to the PIC.
The first ever PIC in Little Andaman effectively caters to the information as well as entertainment needs of the people through different programme activities being organized since early morning to late night. (PIB)
