Port Blair, Feb 28: Nehru Yuva Kendra Port Blair organized a District Level Neighborhood Youth Participants on 27th Feb 2023 at Auditorium of Tagore college of Education , Middle Point, Port Blair. In this programme 240 participants were participated from different educational institutions and youth clubs. Under the NYLP scheme, india’s prestigious G20 Presidency Year, the district-level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament is being organized with the G20 theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’. Y20 is the official youth engagement group for the G20 (Group 20), the platform for the world’s largest and most advanced economies. The themes of Y20 announced by Minister, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports on the eve of the launch of Y20 on January 6, 2023 are: i) Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation and 21st Century Skills, ii) Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life, iii) Peace building and Reconciliation: The beginning of an era of no war, and iv) Shared Future: Youth and Health, Well-being and Sport in Democracy and Governance: Agendas for Youth. The Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is the nodal agency for Y20 during India’s G20 Presidency. Mrs. Pramila Kumari, Chairperson, Zilla Parishad were the chief guests, She inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. She spoke that every local person was made aware about joining in creating a prosperous and resilient community and to train the youth in the technique of group discussion, to develop the ability of the youth to arrive at decisions after group discussion, so that the society of this island and the nation can develop. Dr. Eknath B. Chakurkr, Director, CIARE, Guest of Honor was present on the occasion. He also called upon the youth to unite for action through providing accountability, transparency and equitable society for the originally prepared youth. Dr. Lalji Singh, Joint Director and Head of Botanical Survey of India was also present as a guest and shares his experiences on the theme of Y-20, Indian youth are important for India’s progress and to an extent for the whole world. Young people should always be encouraged and given excellent health, training and education so that they can become effective leaders, inventors and innovators who can change the world.
As part of the theme, various sessions was covered by the Resource persons Dr. Milan Halder, Dr. RGS Baghel, associate Professor, Mr. Rajiv Mandal, Director, Physical Education and Mr. M balasubramani Dr, Sunita patil on various issues. An interactive session was also held with Y-20 on various topics like future of work in youth, Industry, innovation and skill development, climate change and disaster risk reduction, role of youth in peace building and what work can the youth do to strengthen their future with democracy, governance and health. The youth also asked questions on all these topics, which were answered by all the guests, were presented.
In earlier, Mr. Sukhranjan Biswas, Deputy Director, (OSD) addl charge of Nehru Yuva Kendra Port Blair welcome the guest and gathering and briefed the aims and objectives of the programme while Mr. Gopal CH Biswas, APA coordinated the programme and proposed vote of thanks.
