Port Blair, Dec 21: In the scenic village Harminder Bay, a 21 km long Bicycle race for the tribal youths kicked off early this morning. Mr Krishnamurthy, Deputy Chief Engineer, ALHW flagged off the race in the presence of Tribal chief captain and other captains.
About 60 cyclists took part in the race and most of them covered the entire distance of 21 kms in less than 35 minutes.
All along the way, a large number of people gathered and cheered the cyclists. This cycle race has been organized to highlight the message of the Bharat Nirman Programme- Taking the rural India forward.
The Bicycle race for the women is scheduled on Saturday early morning at 5.30 hours. (PIB)
