Port Blair, Feb 15: A 24-year-old resident of Anarkali in Port Blair was found dead yesterday evening, having committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling at an old BSNL quarter in Megapode area, reportedly due to depression caused by financial problems.
The deceased had been going through a tough time for the past month due to his financial crisis. On February 14, he left his house and did not return until the following morning. His family started searching for him and found him dead in the old BSNL quarters of Anarkali area near Megapode, where he had hanged himself.
The matter was immediately reported to PS Chatham, who arrived at the scene. The body was later recovered and shifted to GB Pant hospital. It is learned that depression due to financial problems was the reason behind his suicide.
PS Chatham is currently investigating the matter, and further details are awaited.
