
Port Blair, Feb 05: The Islands State Martial Arts Association, led by Grand Master M.D. Selvam, claimed the 2nd position at the recently concluded 23rd SQAY Martial Arts National Championship 2022-23 held at COER University, Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The team of 32 players won a total of 77 medals, including 57 Gold, 10 Silver, and 10 Bronze, among the 22 competing states/UTs throughout India.
R. Dinesh was awarded the Grand Champion title in the above 18 years Men category, and other notable performers included Dr. C. Partibhan, Sailesh Baa, Aneesh Iftiquar, B. Gayatri, T. Harish, Christopher, Jayshree, Bharat, Mamta, Rupa, and Vaishnavi.
The team received a rousing reception at the Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair, from Mr. Abdul Rasheed, Director of Ration Rasheed Foundation, along with its members and parents/families of the participating players. Mr. Rasheed extended his gratitude and assured every possible help from his end.
Mr. Anand Raj, President of ISMAA, thanked RRF and the parents for the warm reception accorded to the team. He praised the team’s 200% efforts in bringing laurels to the Islands.
