Port Blair, Jan 31: The District Administration with the assistance of State Authority, NDRF & other line department organized a Mock Exercise on 30/01/2023 at Junglighat, Fish Landing Centre on the Scenario “Earthquake, followed by Tsunami”.
During the Mock Exercise, the alert message of Earthquake & Subsequent Tsunami was passed to all the Nodal Officers of line departments and a control room was set up in the District Control Room, South Andaman.
Accordingly all concerned line department such as Fire Service, Health, Police, Revenue, STS, Electricity Department etc responded timely and reached the spot with adequate man and machinery and took active part in the disaster scenario created for Tsunami.Mock Drill for search and rescue was demonstrated by the officials of Police and other line departments present thereon.
The Mock exercise concluded with a debriefing by the Deputy Incident Commandant/AC(S) wherein he advised all concerned to tighten up all shortcomings noticed during the conduct of Mock Drill.
The entire Mock Exercise has been conducted under the overall supervision of Incident Commandant/ADM (SA).
