Port Blair, Jan 06: The Navodaya Foundation has appealed to all Islanders to support and extend financial help to Mr. R Vineeth, a Mountaineer from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to climb Mount Everest. Earlier, Mr. R Vineeth had earlier climbed the 6001 meter high Deo Tibba mountain.
Addressing a press conference recently, the Foundation’s Director, Mrs. Pratima Banerjee said that Island boy Mr. Vineeth reached the peak of Tibba mountain and brought laurels for our Islands.
She said that now Mr. Vineeth wants to scale Mount Everest and as proud Islanders we all must support his dreams.
Mr. Saikat Biswas, a member of the Foundation, said that Mr. R Vineeth, who is working in the Indian Air Force is being helped by the foundation but the amount required to scale Mount Everest is nearly Rs. 35 lakh and for this reason help from everyone is required. He said that some organizations have come forward to support this cause.
