Port Blair, Jan 06: Once again nearly 12 Assistant Professors (On Contract) of ANCOL have not received their salary for the last two months due to delay in file movement, which is causing extreme hardship to their family members.
Earlier also on two different occasions Andaman Sheekha had reported similar news after which salary of the Assistant Professors were released. Adding to the plight, the salaries of these Assistant Professors (On Contract) of last summer vacation are also due.
As all these Assistant Professors have to support their family, pay various bills viz school fees, room rents etc, this delay has caused huge mental agony for them.
Last year in May and June, during summer vacation they were asked to work and officials had promised that payment will be made but that payment has also been blocked for reasons unknown. “We are totally clueless about what is happening with our salary and we are also deeply worried about our future,” said an Assistant Professor who does not want his name to be quoted.
The Assistant Lecturers are presently struggling to arrange daily bread and butter for their family members, many have taken loans from markets with high interest to survive.
As per college authorities the concern file has already been sent to Administration for further action and no file is pending in the college.
“We are following up the issue and we have been informed that within one month the payment will be released,” said an official of ANCOL on the condition of anonymity.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Assistant Secretary of Higher Education, the officer told Andaman Sheekha Daily that the file has already been sent to Lt. Governor’s office for necessary approval and after approval payment will be released immediately.
