Port Blair, Oct 30: Today the SpiceJet flight ,Chennai (SG607) was delayed by two hours without any proper information to passengers. It is alleged that most of the passengers were informed about the delay in arrival of SpiceJet flight at Port Blair only while issuing boarding pass and not via SMS.
As a result most of the passengers, who reached the airport on time, had to wait for two more hours at Airport. Worst sufferers were those who had connecting flights from Chennai to other states or those who had booked train or bus tickets for onward journeys on the same day.
As SpiceJet neither made arrangements for onward journey of passengers, who missed their connecting flight from Chennai nor provided any discount in purchasing tickets from Chennai for new flight tickets, many passengers were deeply disappointed and had heated discussion with the SpiceJet local in-charge.
The local in-charge of SpiceJet meanwhile maintained silence as she could not help any passengers, who were about to miss their connecting flight.
“While other flights reached on time at Port Blair, why was the SpiceJet flight delayed without any valid reason? We are four members in our family and if we buy new tickets for our onward journey from Chennai it will cost atleast 20,000 per head, which means a loss of Rs. 80,000. Who will pay for that loss?,” questioned a passenger.
Another passenger had to pay a heavy amount for cancelling her onward ticket and purchasing new tickets said that the airlines refused to give any discount on new tickets, even though the fault was completely from the airline’s side.
Other passengers informed Andaman Sheekha that since the last nearly five days SpiceJet flights are getting delayed for no reason, creating a bagful of problems for passengers, especially those who have connecting flights or have a train or bus to catch on the same day.
