Port Blair, Oct 16: Keeping in view of pest & disease attack on paddy, CIPMC conducted Farmers’ Field School-Kharif 2022-23 to sensitize and spread awareness about IPM technology at Dasarathpur of Rangat, N & M Andaman by involving 30 Rice farmers(10 Women Farmers) and 5 AEOs.
Addressing the programme, Mr.Shiva Kumar H. D., APPO(WS), CIPMC Port Blair welcomed all the farmers and elaborated the ill effects of indiscriminate use of chemical on environment and human health and requested to use bio pesticide as far as possible and spread Integrated Pest Management(IPM) technologies learnt during FFS programme among other farmers.
Mrs. S. C. Rekha, Assistant Director, Dept. of Agriculture, Rangat shared her views on IPM Methods, Natural enemies, Cultural, Mechanical methods, Neem based Bio-pesticide, Traps & vermicomposting and suggested to prepare low cost bio-pesticides on the own farms to reduce the cost of cultivation and dependency of the Government supply. At the same time she also assured the supply of quality seed and inputs to the farmers in the subsidized rates from Agriculture Dept.
Mr. Azmat Qadir, SCFA, Rangat Sub Depot, explained the use of Pheromone traps, Sticky traps and seed treatment for prevention of pest incidence in paddy fields and about various departmental schemes for the benefits of the farmers and assured continuous support from the Agriculture Dept.
IPM Kits were distributed to all the farmers in presence of Assistant Director, Pradhan and Members, Gram Panchayat, Dasarathpur. Programme was concluded by co-ordinate of FFS programmeMr. Shiva Kumar H. D. with vote of thanks.
