Diglipur/Pahagaon, Oct 06: In a freakish incident, a motorcycle was found blazing on the night of 3rd Oct. at around 01.30AM near a house in Ward No. 07, Tugapur under Gram Panchayat Pahalgaon.
The reason behind the fire incident hasn’t been known yet while the local Police are investigating the matter; however, no one was reportedly injured in the accident. The fire was doused by nearby people but the motorcycle was reduced to ashes leaving merely a skeleton of it.
When contacted, Mr. ShibanandaBairagi, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Pahalgaon, Mayabunder told Andaman Sheekha that the motorbike gutted belonged to Mr. Animesh Das, Up-Pradhan, G.P. Pahalgaon. He further disclosed that Mr. Das’ motorbike was kept parked near his (Das’) house.
Mr. Das reportedly heard a loud sound and found that his motorbike was set on fire in the wee hours. Mr. Bairagi further said that someone had a pre-plan of this incident as they recovered a petrol gallon and a match box from the site of the fire accident. He then informed the police about the incident.
As per details the police arrived on the scene at around 05.00 am and picked up one suspect in connection to this incident. The Pradhan along with Mr. Das then went to the Police Station and registered a case in this regard. Meanwhile, the 03 persons on whom the Up-Pradhan and his friend had suspected of the malfeasance were allegedly found telling around in the village that it was they who only had set ablaze the bike and they trifled with and mocked the police.
But to their utter dismay, the suspects were soon released from the Police Station, which raised several questions.
They further said that a murder case was reported in the region recently and had the police been on high alert and or strict enough, the crime could have been foiled.
Pouring petrol and setting a bike on fire near a residential house in scarcely populated village in Andaman is nothing short of a terrorist act, Mr. Bairagi alleged. He emphasized that proper investigation is done in this case; the cell phones of the culprits are confiscated so as to gather digital information from these phones and the digital information should come to the knowledge of the Honourable Court and the general public and accordingly they are treated in order to set examples for others and then only these wrongdoers can be curbed. And if the local police are unable to do this, they should take the assistance of the Crime Branch, Port Blair in the matter, he further said.
