Port Blair, Oct 06: On 3rd October two fishermen of Little Andaman, who were operating a fishing boat ‘Geeta’ near Brother & Sister Islands close to Little Andaman, found themselves in distress situation when their boat engine developed technical snags and the fishing boat started drifting.
According to officials, both fishermen, Mr. Abhijit Mondal, 29 years, a resident of VK Pur, Little Andaman and Mr. Biswajit, 29 years, a resident of Rabindra Nagar Little Andaman, reportedly tried to anchor the dinghy near Brother & Sister Islands but the fishing boat kept on drifting. They reportedly tried to send distress calls to other vessels nearby but that remained unheard.
Finally, next day a fishing trawler, namely ‘flowbill’ came for the rescue of the stranded fishermen, who were later brought back to Port Blair today. Both the fishermen are safety, officials confirmed Andaman Sheekha Daily.
