Diglipur, Sept. 19: Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration was on an official tour to Diglipur and held a meeting with PRI Members and the heads/officials of line departments in the APWD Guest House in the morning hours today.
As per report, after the self introduction by the PRI members & the heads/officials of line departments, the PRI members apprised the Chief Secretary of the issues and submitted their grievances/representations/memoranda in writing to the CS.
Smti Suniti Halder, ZPM, Keralapuram Constituency & the BJP Dist. President, N/Andaman Diglipur raised a plethora of issues which included the construction of concrete dam at Khudirampur village, revival of Tourism in Diglipur, requirement of adequate numbers of staff especially a sinologist in CHC Diglipur, making early operational of Air Strip at Shibpur, construction of a Bus Terminal with Passenger waiting Hall facility, shortcomings in many schools with no teachers & headmaster and furniture, berthing of Cargo Ships at Mayabunder Wharf, issuance of No-Dues & Valuation certificates of land for sale/purchase, Diversion of land (House Site & Commercial), Minimum reference Circle Rate, Hurdles of two (2) hectare of land etc. Mr. Kamal Halder, President, Diglipur Farmers’ Union raised a number of agriculture based issues of the farmers of Diglipur region.
He said that the Vegetable Market Building is in execrable condition which needs to be immediately built to accommodate the farmers vending vegetables.
Non-release of High-Value Payments, untimely supply of fertilizers, Internet connectivity at all Sub-Depot, non-issuance/supply of saplings, Insurance coverage of all seasonal crops, River-bank erosion, Subsidy to the farmers of remote areas on electric meter obtained for agricultural purpose, Cold storage for agriculture farm products and Introduction of new/advanced techniques in the field of Agriculture. Smti Seema Majhi, Ex-Pradhan, GP Sitanagar, brought to the notice of the CS about the pathetic condition of the toilet which is about 40 meters away from the school building in the Govt. Sumati PS Sitanagar where children sit on dirty mat which is much concerning.
PRI Members under Kalighat region raised the issue of a long-pending demand of a bridge over Kalighat creek to connect Nishchintapur village while a setting up of mini petrol pump at Kalighat will solve the problems of people of this area to a great extent, they demanded. Pradhan GP Radhanagar raised the issue of irregular bus service and urged the CS to construct an approach path to the Mud Volcano in the Haathi Level region. PRI members of R.K. Gram apprised the CS of dilapidated conditions of schools.
Mr. Pradip Das, ZPM, R.K. Gram constituency requested the CS to establish a Mini Indoor Stadium in Diglipur for the sports aspirants and park for the children. He also highlighted the present scenario of the Govt. Polytechnic at present running in Govt. Model School, Sitanagar. All other PRI members raised the dilapidated condition of Rural Roads in their respective areas/panchayats. The Chief Secretary was found to give a prudent and patient hearing to the PRIs; however, he was enraged when he learnt that there was no water-tap connection in a Ward under Diglipur Constituency raised by K.B. Raj a Ward Member of GP Diglipur, and the rundown condition of a rural road in Subhashgram area while in record it shows executed and in complete shape. He reprimanded the concerned officials and ordered them to immediately redress the issue within no time. He further said that he wouldn’t tolerate the unprofessional attitude of the officials to the works, general public as well as the PRI members.
The Chief Secretary was also found to give stern orders to the officials of the departments to reach out to the village and remote areas and make stay if required to see and assess the ground realities of the issues/grievances which have been incessantly cropping up. He also advised the officials not to come up with excuses and asked to show will and make use of the available resources and live upto the expectations of the people and the PRI members. As per itinerary, Mr. Keshav Chandra was busy visiting various sites/places and taking note of the state of affairs the entire day today. He will visit various other sites as well before setting off for Mayabunder tomorrow, the report further said.
