
Port Blair, Sep 12: The district police of North & Middle Andaman have been conducting intensive jungle search and combing operations to crack down on the manufacturing of illicit Liquor, Lahan and Handia. Adding to the spree of the crackdown on illicit liquor manufacturing in the district, four successful jungle raids have resulted in recovering of 930 ltrs. of lahan and 31 ltrs. of illicit liquor along with other materials/utensils etc. used for distillation of illicit liquor. The recovery has been done mainly from forest areas of Bakultala in PS Rangat, Prafulla Nagar in PS BilligroundandPaschimsagar in PS Kalighat.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. VisheshDhatterwal, DANIPS, SDPO Rangat and Mr. Manasi Vashista, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur and overall direction and supervision of Mrs. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
Local residents have highly appreciated the proactive efforts of the police. In this fight against illicit liquor, bootleggers and drug abuse public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime /illegal activities to police over phone No.100, 112 and 03192-273344. The identity of the informers will be kept secret and will also be suitably rewarded.
