Port Blair, Dec 03: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC along with Reverend Catholic Bishop Alex Dias met with the Lt Governor of A&N Islands today at Rajniwas and requested him for a piece of land measuring about one acre in and around Port Blair for a graveyard to be used by the Christian community.
Advocating for the new graveyard, Mr. Sharma stated that a large number of population of Christian Community are staying in and around Port Blair who have been allotted a piece of land near Gymkhana Ground by the AN Administration to use the same as graveyard a long time back, which has now become unusable.
“There is no place left for further burial due to over burial of bodies for years after years. As pieces of corpse are coming out at the time of digging of a fresh grave which is not only a painful sight to the community who have lost their near and dear ones but also not taken as good omen for fresh burial ceremony,” Mr. Sharma said.
Mr. Sharma also requested to the Lt Governor to solve the problems of the Catholic Community of Gandhi Nagar, Campbell Bay.
