People of South Andaman often sought answers from the officials of the Electricity Department on this issue but they received disappointments.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted a senior officer in the Electricity Department regarding the power cut in RGT road, MachiLine and adjoining areas, the officer informed that there was a fault in (RMU) Ring Main Unit near MazarPahad which typically takes more time to detect and because it was close to sea shore area it was completely rusted. Therefore, it took nearly 03 hours to open the unit and rectify it and restore the electricity supply.
“Due to this problem transformers of Sinclair hotel area, MazarPahad 02 and 03, South Point, JNRM, Machi Line and RGT areas were shut down which was the reason behind this long power cut,” the official added.
