Port Blair, Jul 05: The Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Hut Bay has requested the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, A&N Administration to address several long pending issues of Hut Bay, Little Andaman.
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner (SA), A&N Administration, Mrs. Pappi Naidu, Pradhan, GP Hut Bay requested to re-open the Stone and White Murum Quarry. She said that due to closure of these quarries all the developmental works of the Island are halted.
She demanded the reconstruction of main roads and connecting roads of all Ward of OngiTikery and Farm Tikery, which are badly damaged due to non-maintenance for several years and also the construction of the road leading to the Light House of Little Andaman.
The Pradhan stated that the PHC Hut Bay is equipped with the ultrasound machine but no specialist/operator has been deputed yet. Due to the delay in the new DSR rate, all developmental works of GP Hut Bay are stopped and there is no progress in the last 03 years.
She stated that the Chidambaram Park which was constructed in the memory of those who lost their lives in the Tsunami should be redeveloped properly for the children and the general public may get the benefit, as well as Gram Panchayat, can also generate some revenue.
The Pradhan also mentioned that due to improper facilities at PHC Hut Bay, Pregnant ladies have to visit GB Pant Hospital for delivery but economically backward people find it difficult to stay in Port Blair for 02 to 03 months. So, she requested A&N Administration to provide any possible accommodation for the patients.
