Port Blair, Jun 27: Mr. AjoyBairagi, State President, BJP A&N met Mr. JitendraNarain, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration on 27th June 2022 at his office and discussed various issues concerning the Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Mr. Bairagi stated that the three-tier Panchayati Raj System has been re-established in the Islands by reinstating Panchayat Samiti. This move has strengthened the Panchayati Raj System and provided the necessary support for development in rural areas.
As the Panchayat Samiti tier was abolished, the related infrastructure and administrative assets were parted down due to which, newly elected Panchayat Samitis were unable to do most of their responsibilities. The circumstances involved greatly affected their scope of duties.
He also put forward the issue of the miserable condition of rural roads as daily commuters find it very difficult to travel. Many mishaps and accidents occurred due to the condition of these roads which multiplied during the rainy season.
He requested the Chief Secretary to look into the issues and do the needful by guiding the concerned authority for the earliest address of these issues.
As per a release issued by BJP, A & N State Unit, Mr. JitendraNarain, Chief Secretary has reportedly assured Mr. AjoyBairagi to look into the issues raised by him.
