Port Blair, June 21: The residents of Katchal Island are facing immense difficulties due to the long power cuts in the Island since the last one month.
According to reports, the general public of Katchal Island has witnessed nearly 03 to 04 hours long of power cuts daily. It was found that the interruption in the power supply is due to the non-functional of one DG set out of two, in which the single DG set is not able to supply sufficient power to the Island.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted a senior officer of the Electricity Department, it was informed that after the intervention of the District Administration, a new DG set was provided to the Katchal Power House on 10th June 2022.
The officer said that the team of Katchal Power House is installing the new DG set which is in the final stage of completion and will be completed in two days. “Once the new DG set is installed, the people of Katchal Island will not face any power disruption in the coming days”, the senior officer added.
