Mayabunder, April 19: Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Special Judge under POCSO Act, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has convicted one accused person namely Sajal Das R/o Gandhi Nagar under PS Diglipur and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life for the offence punishable under section 6 of POCSO Act,2012 and also to pay fine of Rs.2,00,000/(rupees two lakhs), out of which 90 percent amount is to be paid to the victim girl as compensation u/s. 357 of Cr.P.C, in default of payment which convict will have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year more.
A case under POCSO Act was registered in the Police Station, Diglipur vide FIR No. 78 of 2020, dated 08/08/2020 on the basis of fardbayan by the victim girl. The fact of the case is that on 07/06/2020 the accused and victim girl were watching mobile phone at the house of the accused and at that time the accused asked the victim to come and sleep with him at night and thereafter, they performed physical relationship on consent and such event the minor victim girl became pregnant.
For the rehabilitation of victim girl, an amount of Rs.5,00,000/- (rupees five lakhs) has been awarded as compensation as per provision of 357A of Cr.P.C from Victim Compensation Fund. The entire case was investigated by SI Jishi George under the supervision of Mr. Vichitra Veer, IPS, Superintendent of Police (D), Mayabunder for which the Hon’ble Court has appreciated for energetic investigation conducted by the Investigation Officer. The entire prosecution case was conducted by Shri. Keshab Chandra Mondal, learned Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO Act), Mayabunder.
