Port Blair, Apr 18: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell, JNRM in association with the DAY-NRLM, Gram Panchayat, Beodnabad organized a three days Skill Development Training on Food Processing Pickle, Jam, Jelly and Squash preparation in Beodnabad Gram Panchayat Hall for the women from 11th to 13th April 2022.
The valedictory function held on 13th April 2022 in the Gram Panchayat Hall. Dr. H.K.Sharma, Principal, JNRM has appreciated the team UBA, JNRM for taking the extra mile to reach the rural women for their economic empowerment.
Mr. R. Paramasivam, Pradhan, Beodnabad Gram Panchayat thanked the Principal, JNRM for supporting this kind of skill development programme for women in Beodnabad and adjacent villages. Dr. K.Venkatesan, HOD, Home science and Nodal Officer, informed the gathering that UBA, a flagship programme of GoI under the Ministry for Education aimed at improving the overall development of the villages across India through Higher Educational Institutions.
The UBA works on the thematic areas and guidelines are given by the National Coordinating Agency IIT-Delhi by evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth in Rural India for empowerment.
Mrs. Banumathi, DAY-NRLM spoke on the empowerment of rural women through skill development training with the help of JNRM. The lecture cum hands-on training on Pickle, Jam, Jelly and Squash preparation was given by Ms. Binku Mondal, Resource Person, Department of Home Science, JNRM.
Emphasis was also made to utilize the locally available and seasonal fruits and vegetables followed by the hands-on training the women were divided into groups and prepared pickles viz, Lemon, Mango-Ginger, Mango mixed vegetables, Mixed Fruit Jam, Jelly-Papaya, Orange, Water Melon and Squash-Orange, Mango, Grapes.
Mr. K. Biji, Panchayat Secretary, Beodnabad Gram Panchayat also spoke on the occasion. Mr. Gautam Mitra, ICSSR Project Staff, JNRM coordinated the programme. Altogether 30 women took part in the skill development programmes and certificates were distributed during valedictory of the programme.
