Port Blair, Apr 18: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Committee Member BJP and Former State President of A&N BJP and Home Ministry Advisory Committee Member demanded to restore all convoys in Andaman Trunk Road operating between Jirkatang to Middle Strait and from Middle Strait to Jirkatang. The same was curtailed and restricted to a limited movement due to the COVID pandemic since March 2020.
Now the GoI including the UT Administration has revoked the Disaster Management Act which was enforced to impose restrictions and containment of COVID-19 in the country. Due to the imposition of the above restriction of movement of convoy the essential services have immensely affected and also badly affected the life and livelihood of the entire population living in the logistically constrained district of North & Middle Andaman.
Considering the difficulties faced by the commuters especially the Islanders of North & Middle Andaman and visiting tourists, Mr. Jolly requested the Chief Secretary to restore all convoy trips between Jirkatang to Middle Strait and vice versa as pre-covid practice for the convenience and to provide seamless connectivity to commuters.
