Port Blair, Apr 12: The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell, JNRM in association with the Gram Panchayat Tushnabad and SURBHI NGO, CaddleGunj organized a three days Training Programme on Floriculture, Mushroom Cultivation and Vermi Composting in Tushnabad Panchayat Hall for the women from 11th to 13th April 2022.
The Chief Guest Mr. Rajender Lal, BDO & Executive Magistrate, Ferrargunj inaugurated the programme and while addressing the gathering appreciated the Department of Home Science, JNRM for taking the initiative to organize a skill development programme in Tushnabad.
The participants should come forward to utilize the opportunities to enhance their income level through such kind of livelihood training. The various agencies are providing sector-specific training for empowering women and they must come forward to utilize the benefits, he added.
The Guest of Honour Mr. Anand Amrit Raj, Pradhan, Tushnabad Gram Panchayat requested the SHG members to start the SHG Buyers and Sellers Meet through which women can earn by selling the products without mediators to the consumers. The Panchayat is providing various opportunities in collaboration with the line departments for the development of women in all spheres of life for their empowerment, he added.
Dr. H.K.Sharma, Principal, JNRM congratulated the UBA team of JNRM for taking the extension activities under the aegis of UBA Perennial Fund, IIT, Delhi as part of Institutional Social Responsibility. Dr. K.Venkatesan, HOD, Home science and Nodal Officer, UBA thanked Professor Virendra. K. Vijay, National Coordinator, UBA for his encouragement and kind support in formulating the programme for the remote areas women like Andaman and Nicobar Islands under UBA Perennial Fund.
The purpose and goal of this training as per UBA mandate is to build the capacity of the rural women through training relevant to national needs by utilizing the local resources, especially in rural India, he added.
Fr. Simolin, Director SURABI NGO, CaddleGunj explained the various types of activities and training available with the support of NABARD. The lecture cum hands-on training Oyster Musthrrom and Vermicomposting training was given by Dr.NituSindhu, Scientist, KVK, ICAR-CIARI. Mrs. Kakaoli Ghosh, Panchayat Secretary also spoke on the occasion. Ms. VarsaLakra, ICSSR Project Staff, JNRM coordinated the programme.
