Port Blair, April 12: Airtel Partner Engineer team, who went to Car Nicobar for 4G up-gradation are now allegedly stuck at Car Nicobar due to the unavailability of either Ship or Helicopter tickets for the last 10 days.
A group of six engineers had reached Car Nicobar on 30th March 2022 to upgrade the Airtel network to 4G. After the successful up- gradation works in Car Nicobar, when they intended to proceed further to Campbell Bay for the 4G network launch plan, they couldn’t proceed as they got stuck at Car Nicobar due to unavailability of ship or helicopter tickets.
When contacted, Mr. Adithya Jha, Assistant Commissioner, Nicobar told Andaman Sheekha Daily that he is aware of the issue and has received a request letter from Airtel.
“For Campbell Bay, only three passengers are allowed to travel in Helicopter at a time, which is already booked in advance from Port Blair. There are a total of six engineers and it is not possible to arrange tickets for all six people together,” he added.
Dornier is the only option, which we can opt for, as there are eight seats available but again that might be a problem for Campbell passengers. However, they are waiting for any ship to come, but presently even ships are not available.
However, he assured that he will try to discuss the matter with the authorities concerned and will try to arrange some mode of transport for them.
