Port Blair, Apr 11: A massive tree today fell on a moving vehicle this afternoon near the main road of Shoal Bay Number 8, leaving the driver and one passenger seriously injured.
According to reports, the car was on its way from Shoal Bay 15 when the huge old tree fell over it due to strong winds at around 12:45 PM.
The driver and the passenger present inside the car, suffered major injuries after which they were rushed to Bambooflat hospital.
Later PS Bambooflat team also reached the spot. The driver has been identified as Mr. Zahir Ali and the other passenger Mr. Kanak Das, who is Assistant Engineer at APWD.
The driver suffered injuries on the shoulder whereas the AE suffered an injury to the spinal cord and legs.
As per information, the car was returning from Shoal Bay 15 and the officer had gone to inspect the newly constructed road between Shoal Bay 15 to 19.
