Port Blair, Apr 03: A 41-year-old taxi driver was arrested last night on the charges of hit and run. The accused allegedly hit three men standing on the road at Anarkali area near the PlayGround and did not stop after the accident.
As per information received, the incident happened on 1st April 2022 at midnight around 11: 30 PM when three private workers were returning home after work. As per details, for some reason they were standing near the playground on general talk, the accused taxi driver coming from the opposite side allegedly at high speed, dashed all the three men and did not bother to stop.
Immediately on hearing the sound, nearby people came for help and rushed all three victims to GB Pant hospital. Among the three men, Mr. Ganesh 26-years-old suffered grievous head injury and the other two suffered minor injuries, it is learnt.
Later a hit and run case was registered in PS Chatham, and the next day after the investigation the taxi driver was identified and arrested.
