Port Blair, Mar 22: Col Jarnail Singh, Group Commander Madras Group ‘A’ NCC visited both the NCC Units of the Islands i.e. 1 (AN) Indep Inf Coy and 1(AN) NU NCC. He appreciated the high standard of training and numerous NCC activities carried out by the units during COVID 19.
He was apprised of constraints in these Islands by Col A Vivekananda, CO 1(AN) Indep Inf Coy NCC. Both Commanding Officers also briefed him on various innovative ways in which NCC training continued in the remote Islands despite the restrictions imposed by COVID 19 pandemic.
Group Commander assured both the NCC Units of all the support from Group HQ Madras ‘A’ for the training of NCC cadets in these Islands. During the interaction, PI staff and civilian staff of both Army and Naval units were present.
In addition to this, as a part of ongoing Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan, the cadets conducted a door-to-door collection of single-use plastic and created awareness amongst the local population about the perils of single-use plastics.
The cadets conducted a rally in the Junglighat area, holding handmade banners and posters under the supervision of PI staff. Lt Cdr Ankit Pant, CO 1(AN) Naval NU NCC encouraged the cadets to active participation in such activities.
