Port Blair, Feb 28: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to issue necessary directions to concerned departments to schedule a ship for Campbell Bay via Hutbay at least 3 days before of Elections, so that every individual, who are willing to cast their votes are able to reach their respective Island and exercise their franchise.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma mentioned that he has been approached by a large number of people from Hutbay and Great Nicobar Islands, who are willing to cast their valuable votes in upcoming Municipal and Panchayat Elections but due to the non-availability of ships for Hutbay and Campbell Bay, they are not able to plan to their visit to their respective Islands and hence they will not be able to cast their votes in coming Elections.
He mentioned that in a democracy it is a basic right to every individual to exercise their franchise in elections and hence he has requested the Lt. Governor to provide a ship for these Islanders who are waiting for a ship to reach their respective Island before Elections and cast their vote.
