
Port Blair, Feb 27: Western Fleet of the Indian Navy visited Port Blair from 25th to 27th Feb 22. The Western Fleet commanded by Rear Admiral Sameer Saxena, NM, is based in Mumbai.
The Western Fleet ships comprised of Indian Naval ships Talwar, Teg and Brahmaputra, were deployed for area familiarisation and undertaking operations in Andaman & Nicobar Command.
Lt Gen Ajai Singh, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command embarked the ships and witnessed the operational demonstrations of flying operations and combined ships exercises in the Andaman Sea synergized with Naval ships of Andaman and Nicobar Command.
The Ships of ANC and the Western Fleet operated in close coordination demonstrated synergy and interoperability. The manoeuvres in the Andaman Sea further strengthen the capabilities to monitor sea areas and important Sea Lines of Communications (SLOCs) through the Indian Ocean Region and provide a seamless and synergized operational interface with accretional resources of Fleets of the Eastern and Western Naval Commands.
